Stihl MS 251

The Stihl MS 251 is a powerful and compact chainsaw with up to 20% lower fuel consumption and up to 50% lower emissions of harmful substances compared to conventional STIHL two-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology. Very easy to handle and offers optimal driving characteristics. Perfect for all kinds of work on your own property, around the cottage, farm, or for cutting firewood for your own heating.

Single-lever control

All important functions such as cold and warm start, operation, and stop can be easily and conveniently managed with a single control lever. The work becomes simple and comfortable while also improving safety.

Side chain tensioning

On almost all STIHL chainsaws (MS 170 excepted), the chain is tensioned from the side of the saw at a safe distance from the sharp cutting teeth. Turn off the chainsaw and loosen the screws on the sprocket cover. Tension the chain using a screwdriver on the chain tensioner while gently pulling the chain with the other hand. Simple and safe.

Compensator

STIHL's compensator, a control system in the carburetor, ensures that the fuel-air mixture is always optimal regardless of how dirty the filter is. The compensator provides optimal performance with low emissions. Only when you notice a clear drop in performance is it time to clean the filter. The filter cleaning intervals are significantly extended.

Long-life air filter system with pre-filtration

Air is drawn into a flywheel and set in rotation. Centrifugal force, with the help of a ramp, slings out the larger and heavier dirt particles. The air that reaches the air filter has thus already undergone a cleaning process. As a result, filter cleaning intervals become very long.

Primer

The manual fuel pump pumps gasoline into the carburetor with a few simple thumb presses. You no longer need to pull the starter cord to draw fuel into the carburetor. There is no risk of overfilling as all excess fuel runs back into the tank.

Stihl 2-MIX engine

STIHL's fuel-efficient 2-MIX engine with 1-in-4 channel technology is very powerful and has enormous pulling power, while fuel consumption is up to 20% lower compared to equivalent STIHL 2-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology. In addition, emissions are reduced by up to 50%. It meets the European exhaust directive EU II.

Stihl anti-vibration system

A person who is exposed to vibrations over a prolonged period, for example from a power tool, may develop circulatory problems in the hands and arms. STIHL's highly effective anti-vibration system absorbs the dangerous vibrations from the engine and cutting equipment in precisely calculated buffer zones, making the machine comfortable and ergonomic to work with.

Stihl Ematic chain lubrication

The STIHL Ematic System consists of the Ematic guide bar, Oilomatic saw chain, and a manually or automatically adjustable oil pump. The special design of the bar and chain ensures that the chain oil, without losses, is delivered exactly where it is needed most. Oil consumption can be reduced by up to 50%.

Bayonet fuel cap

Patented special closure for the fuel and oil tanks. The cap has a bayonet fitting which makes it incredibly easy and convenient to open and close without any tools.

Winter/summer operation

STIHL chainsaws with carburetor heating can also be relied upon during the cold season: Set to winter mode, the carburetor is surrounded by pre-heated air, thereby preventing icing in the carburetor. Switching between summer and winter operation is quick and easy.
