Single-lever control

All important functions such as cold and warm start, operation, and stop are easily and conveniently handled with a single control lever. Work becomes simple and convenient while also increasing safety.

Integrated locking nuts

When you change cutting equipment, the locking nuts always stay in place, so there is no risk of losing them. This makes it easier for you as a user.

Adjustable oil pump

Allows you to fine-tune the oil supply entirely to your own needs. In the E-marking, the chainsaw is in economy mode and oil consumption can be reduced by up to 50%. For very long bars or very dry wood, the oil amount can be manually increased.

Side chain tensioning

On almost all STIHL chainsaws (MS 170 excepted), the chain is tensioned on the side of the saw at a safe distance from the sharp cutting teeth. Turn off the chainsaw and loosen the screws on the chain drive cover. Tension the chain with a screwdriver on the chain tensioner while gently pulling the chain with the other hand. Simple and safe.

Combi-lever

Since the M-Tronic system itself detects if the machine is being started cold or warm, only one starting position is needed on the combi-lever. The exact right amount of fuel is automatically pumped forward. You don't need to think about anything at start-up as the system takes care of everything. Just start, throttle up and go. Incredibly simple, comfortable, and safe.

Compensator

The STIHL compensator, a control system in the carburetor, ensures that the fuel-air mixture is always optimal in relation to how dirty the filter is. The compensator provides optimal performance with low emissions. Only when you notice a significant drop in performance is it time to clean the filter. Filter cleaning intervals are significantly extended.

Stihl 2-MIX engine

STIHL's fuel-efficient 2-MIX engine with 1-in-4 channel technology is very powerful and has tremendous pulling power while fuel consumption is up to 20% lower compared to equivalent STIHL 2-stroke engines without 2-MIX technology. In addition, emissions are reduced by up to 50%. It meets the European emission directive EU II.

Stihl 4-channel technology

The fuel/air mixture is fed into the combustion chamber via 4 separate transfer channels. Combustion is optimized and the engine efficiency is greatly increased. Result: lower fuel consumption, increased power, lower transfer losses, and lower emissions of harmful substances.

Stihl anti-vibration system

A person exposed to vibrations for a long time, for example from a motorized tool, may develop circulation problems in hands and arms. STIHL's highly effective anti-vibration system absorbs the harmful vibrations from the engine and cutting equipment in precisely calculated buffer zones, making the machine comfortable and ergonomic to work with.

Stihl ElastoStart

Due to compression pressure, force peaks are created at the start of a combustion engine which strain muscles and joints. STIHL ElastoStart, a special handle, uses a spring system to absorb and dampen these force peaks. You get a smooth and comfortable start of the machine.

Stihl Ematic chain lubrication

The Stihl Ematic System consists of the Ematic bar, Oilomatic saw chain and a manually or automatically adjustable oil pump. The special design of the bar and chain ensures the chain oil, with no losses, is delivered exactly where it is needed most. Oil consumption can be reduced by up to 50%.

Stihl M-Tronic (M)

Fully electronic ignition and fuel metering. The engine management system STIHL M-Tronic (M) always provides optimal engine performance, consistently high idling speed, and very good acceleration. The system also features a memory function, which further improves handling characteristics. Manual carburetor adjustment is a thing of the past.

Tank cap with bayonet fitting

Patented special closure for the fuel and oil tank. The cap has a bayonet fitting that makes it incredibly easy and convenient to both open and close completely without tools.
